About the Work
Nap continues my exploration of rest as an intimate and psychologically revealing state. The sleeping figure is surrounded by folds of fabric and contrasting areas of colour. I use the stillness of the body against an active painterly surface to create tension between physical rest and visual movement. The work considers vulnerability and the temporary release from the expectations of everyday life.
